You Want Sausage Links with Those Eggs? If you did not have the opportunity to attend our November Broker breakfast, you missed an informative and useful presentation by speaker Tim Kip, Family Estate Advisors, Plant City on the topic of "Baby Boomers" and how they will affect the real estate market. Born between 1946 and 1964, this generation known as the Boomers will begin to retire in large numbers. Starting this year, Tim says "the boomers will come wave after wave like ants swarming a picnic." Tim presented the facts that will impact our industry as these boomers need to make housing changes and the opportunities associated with those changes. As Baby Boomers enter the senior category in increasing numbers, there will be substantial growth in the opportunities available from serving seniors. Understanding what motivates this mature demographic is also covered in NAR's new designation course (SRES) Senior Real Estate Specialist which will be offered by IFREC throughout the state in 2008. Serving seniors with their real estate related needs can blossom into a significant local referral network whether you are dealing with empty nesters, new retirees or those in their eldest years. Remember that 78 million Boomers are ready to talk real estate! The December 19th Holiday Broker Breakfast will feature speaker Mike Hamuicka presenting "How Green is Green," the ecology craze as it impacts our real estate sales industry and the opportunities it presents. NAR's research shows that 92% of all home buyers consider energy efficiency at least somewhat important, with 46% ranking it as very important. 32% of home buyers aged 18 - 24, report that energy efficiency was very important in their home purchase, a percentage that steadily increased to 63% of buyers over 75. Speaker Andrea Brown of Wells Fargo will present information on the "green mortgage" programs now available. "Being green" seems to be the hottest button these days and in keeping with that, IFREC is hopping on the bandwagon with offering the EcoBroker Designation Course at locations throughout the state in 2008. It is our intent to offer these Broker Breakfasts monthly, presenting ideas, speakers, networking opportunities and the latest in trends. Success in our business is often determined by the depth and breadth of your knowledge. Even though finding time to invest in education might seem hard to afford, the truth is that not investing your time is what can really cost you business. Slower markets are often the perfect time to recommit to expanding your knowledge and what could be better than a FREE breakfast packed full of information you can use? We look forward to seeing you in attendance. You MUST reserve a seat.
